A few weeks ago I had a faulty key contact on my Mirage DSK-1. To fix it requires taking apart the keybed and using contact cleaner solution on the connections.
First step grab the Ensoniq Mirage Service Manual to follow the proper instructions. You can grab a scanned copy of the service manual here:
Mirage Service Manual
After taking the key-bed out use a flat surface to apply contact cleaner. Besides addressing the broken key, I took the time to clean the rest of the keys while I was in here. (Using DeoxIT D100L solution)
Apply the contact cleaning solution:
Also had fun checking out the Mirage board while I had the unit open. It has 8 CEM 3328 8636 chips for the analog filters, along with a more rare CEM 3360 8707 (for the LFO vibrato I'm guessing). Interesting, very interesting...
It's dirty and grimey in there, but it all still works!
Thanks for the service manual. I'm replacing a volume slider soon.
so, how do you clean the contacts with the solution?
Do you just apply it? Do you scrub?
thanks
You can apply the contact solution then work the key a few dozen times. If you are having issues with key triggers also check for corrosion near the key-bed PCB.
