The Elektron Octatrack perfectly replaced the Machinedrum in my setup. In fact, I find it much easier to create complex rhythms on the OT and keep them manageable in a live situation.
I've only had my octatrack for a week now, but I did have lots of experience with the machinedrum UW+, which helped alot in understanding this device.
