Moog SubPhatty Motion Bass Sample Chains
Here is a small collection of Moog SubPhatty Samples in 16 slice sample chain format for the Elektron Octatrack. There is lots of syncopated rhythms, filter sweeps, and oscillator sync throughout these samples, perfect for sample mangling and sequencing on the Elektron Octatrack.Sample Pack Details:
- Each of the samples starts on C then steps in pitch 3 semitones. C, D#, F#, A, C and so on... This way you can achieve a higher range and pitch stretch each Sample Slice to fit your needs.
- Sample Pack Includes 3 Moog SubPhatty Motion Bass delivered in 44.1k, 16bit.
- Experiment around with Slices that are single cycle waveforms. Each of these samples is full of single cycle waveforms that are easy to dial into and turn into Octatrack oscillators. (may be a good idea for another sample set)

How To Use Elektron Octatrack Sample Chains:
- Load the Moog SubPhatty Motion Bass Sample Chains into static sample slots on your Octatrack.- Use the Octatrack's Audio Editor to create a 16 Slice grid for each of the loaded samples.
- When you create the Slice Grid, Select "No" when the audio editor asks to "Align Markers To Zero Crossings". These samples have already been evening spaced in an audio editor and are ready to go.
- Enable "SLCE" Slices Modes in your Playback Setup for the tracks you wish to use these samples on.
- Now the Trigs should eliminate green, each trig 1-16 will trigger the Moog Bass samples/slices 1-16 accordingly.
You should now be all set to play, tweak, sequence, and parameter lock these SubPhatty Sample Chains.
How to make Octatrack Sample Chains:
- Process your samples into individual hits of 8, 16, 32, 64. The amount just depends on the size of the Octatrack Sample Chain you’d like to make. Starting out, I usually prefer to make groups of 16, because this allows all of the samples to be shown and triggered from the first bank of Trigs.
- Use any sample editing software to align the samples so that they are evenly spaced. The attacks need to be spaced evenly. In certain situations the decay of a sample may need to be trimmed to accommodate the next attack. This does not usually effect the performance once they are built as Octatrack Sample Chains because they will most likely be used in a percussive manner, and full decays will never usually ring out.
